How to Tie a Fiador

The fiador knot has a variety of applications, particularly in relation to horse care and riding. The fiador can be used as a rope holster or for tying reins. Learning to tie a fiador knot is simple, and you can successfully make the knot in just a few steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Loop the rope so that one end (End A) is extending from in between your forefinger and middle finger. The other (End B) should be between your ring finger and pinky finger.

    • 2

Create a circle with End B. You can easily create the loose circle you need by looping the rope around so that the two ends of the rope meet.

    • 3

Bring the tip of End A up to your forefinger to create a U shape with the rope. Then, bring the tip of End A under itself at the location of where you are holding it by the forefinger and middle finger. Continue to extend it over top of End B. Do the same with End B- pull it under itself at the location of where it is being held by your forefinger and pinky finger and extend it over the top of the other end. It should form a number eight shape.

    • 4

Repeat the previous process exactly, to form two interlocking eight shapes with the rope. Then, pull the ends together and pull the rope off of your hand to complete the knot.
