How to Print on Sweet Wrappers

The outer wrapper of a piece of candy can incorporate one of a variety of materials such as foil or plastic, although it will usually be made from paper. Use block printing techniques to print your own personalized sweet wrappers at home by creating a stamp you can print as many times as required.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Sketch out your design on paper. If you plan to use any lettering in your image, you must draw it backward so it reads the correct way when you print it. Scale your design so it will fit on the sweet wrapper.

    • 2

Cut a piece of rubber carving block on which your design will fit using a craft knife. Draw your design onto the top of the piece of block with a pencil.

    • 3

Push lino cutters across the top of the rubber carving surface to remove areas you don't want to print. Keep the blade steady, and carve away from yourself. Swivel the rubber carving block rather than moving the blade. Check to ensure you have carved 1/8 inch deep in all the areas of your design you don't want to print.

    • 4

Wash the carving under a cold tap to remove any dirt or dust from the carved stamp.

    • 5

Push the carved surface of the stamp face down into the stamp pad, creating a coat of ink on all the parts of the design you want to print. Place the stamp face down in the center on the sweet wrapper. Apply pressure across the back surface of the stamp. Lift the stamp.

    • 6

Repeat Step 6 to print additional sweet wrappers.
