How to Create Your Own Water Gun

A water gun operates by applying air pressure against the water to force it out. To create your own water gun, apply this principle using items found around the house. No special tools are needed, and you won't need to purchase special equipment. Your water gun will work in the same manner as one purchased from a toy store.

Things You'll Need

16-oz. plastic drinking water bottle
Pushpin

Instructions

  Fill an empty plastic drinking water bottle with tap water until you reach the halfway point. Stand the bottle on a table.

  Unscrew the bottle's plastic cap and put it on the table. Press the pushpin against the center of the cap until it pushes through the cap. Twist the pushpin back and forth as you pull it out of the cap. In the same manner, make a second hole next to the first one.

  Screw the cap back onto the bottle and go outside for this wet trick. Place the bottom of the bottle against your chest and grip both sides of the bottle. Squeeze your hands on the sides of the bottle to shoot water out of the water gun you have just created.
