How to Make a BB Shot Gun

A pellet gun, also known as a BB gun, fires a round projectile that is typically propelled by air pressure. To make your own single shot BB gun, acquire supplies from a hardware store as well as from around the house. The procedure is free of dangerous materials and instead uses the elasticity of an object to propel the BB from the gun. Adult supervision is still required, if the person making the BB gun is under age, since a cutting tool must be used.

Things You'll Need

Plastic film canister
Utility knife
Latex glove, large
Masking tape
BB shots, 1/8th-inch diameter

Instructions

  Remove the lid from the plastic film canister. Place the canister face down on a work surface. Score around the top of the canister, using the blade of a utility knife. Continue to score the canister until you can punch the top out. Discard the punched out top in the trash.

  Place the latex glove on the work surface. Cut through the index finger of the glove, using the utility knife.

  Stretch the hole on the end of the finger so it can be placed around the top of the canister. Push the finger on the canister. Stop pushing when the finger reaches the bottom of the canister. Tape the finger to the canister with strips of masking tape.

  Go outside in your backyard. Hold the canister with the open end facing up. Drop a BB into the canister.

  Grip the BB through the finger. Pull back on the finger as you aim the front of the canister, that is now a BB gun, at a bush so the shot will not ricochet.

  Check that there is no one near the bush. Release the finger to fire the BB at the bush. Reload if you want to fire again.
