How to Fly an RC Brookstone Silver Bullet Helicopter Upside-Down

The Silver Bullet radio-controlled (RC) helicopter available at Brookstone is a fixed-pitch aircraft, meaning the blades cannot change their angle of attack. Without the ability to change the angle of the rotating blades, a pilot cannot invert his helicopter during normal flight. Learn how to modify your helicopter in order to fly it upside down.

Instructions

    • 1

Use the screwdriver to loosen the screws that mount the rotor blades to the swash plate (located at the center of the blades). Pull off the rotor blades.

    • 2

Insert the rotor blades upside down, then install the screws to fasten them in place.

    • 3

Touch the heated solder iron to the motor's electric terminals, which are located just behind the main rotor shaft. The motor is accessible from the side of the helicopter fuselage. Touch the iron to both the positive (red) and the negative (black) terminals, then remove the wires.

    • 4

Reconnect the wires in opposite fashion to how they were originally soldered. You're going to be reversing the polarity of the motor in order to rotate the rotors in reverse. Reverse the polarity of both motors.
