How to Service a Seadoo

Your Seadoo, or personal watercraft, can bring you years of enjoyment if you maintain it properly. Flushing the cooling system with fresh water neutralizes the corrosion caused by salt water and remove debris trapped in the system. Lubricating the engine on the machine prevents rust and corrosion from slowly destroying the mechanical components.

Things You'll Need

  • Hose
  • Quick disconnect
  • Bombardier lube

Instructions

  1. Flushing

    • 1

Turn on the water supply to the hose, and spray into the jet pump from the rear to remove any debris trapped inside of it. Turn off the faucet.

    • 2

Attach the quick disconnect to the end of the hose by twisting it on. Push the quick disconnect into the water outlet at the back of the Seadoo until it snaps in place.

    • 3

Start the Seadoo's engine, and immediately turn on the water supply to the hose.

    • 4

Apply engine throttle on the handlebar until it reaches 3,500 RPMs. Hold the throttle in this position for 3 minutes.

    • 5

Shut down the motor, and turn off the hose.

    Lubrication

    • 6

Pull the plug out of the center of the air intake silencer cover with your hand. This is located in the engine bay under the driver's seat.

    • 7

Spray Bombardier lube into the hole for 3 minutes with the engine running at 3,500 RPMs. This needs to be done with the watercraft in the water or the hose connected to the water intake at the rear.

    • 8

Turn the motor off while continuing to spray lubricant for another several seconds.
