How to Print Newspaper Inserts on Coated Paper

Newspaper inserts can be ads or sections of the paper which include financial and business information, depending on the day of the week. A common type of coated paper that is available for printing on your computer is photo-quality paper. This is paper that is used to print photos or images from a camera. The paper is coated in a varnish, which gives it a slick, glossy look.

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Printer

      Press the "Power" button to turn off the power to the printer. Unplug the power cord and then open the front panel.

      Apply isopropyl alcohol to a cotton swab and wipe it on the rollers. Repeat this process until all of the rollers have been cleaned.

      Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet or power strip and then turn the printer on.

    Print Newspaper Insert

      Cut the insert out of the paper with the scissors and place it on the bed of the scanner for your printer.

      Scan the image of the insert into your computer. Open the image file in a graphic image program such as Paint.NET or Adobe PhotoShop. Make adjustments to the image if necessary.

      Insert the coated glossy paper into the manual-feed paper tray of the printer. Adjust the paper guides on the printer to position the paper correctly.

      Click the "File" drop-down menu in the graphic image program and select the option for "Print." Allow the ink to dry before removing it from the paper tray.
