Inspect the power and ground cables as well as the control cables if the pump motor will not run. Loose or damaged cable connections are often the cause.
Check the level of the hydraulic fluid if the plow raises sluggishly, or not at all. The hydraulic fluid should be within 3/4-inch from the top of the reservoir when the plow is lowered. Top up the hydraulic fluid if necessary.
Inspect the electrical connections if the lights are dim or flickering. This could indicate corroded or damaged terminals. Clean them -- or, if they are very dirty, replace them.
Look for oil running out of the fill cap of the hydraulic pump. This means that you are plowing on a very steep incline, which you should avoid, that you have overfilled the pump reservoir or that you are hitting snowbanks too recklessly and should plow more carefully.
