How to Make an RC Drifter

One of the greatest things about hobby-grade, radio-controlled vehicles is their openness to customization. If you find yourself getting bored with typical driving terrain consider equipping your vehicle with drifting components to introduce a fun new way of driving your vehicle.

Things You'll Need

  • Wrench
  • 2-inch diameter PVC 4-feet long
  • Saw
  • Duct tape

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the four wheels from the vehicle using the wrench. Unscrew the bolts that secure each wheel, then slide them off the chassis. Push the rims out of the standard tires, then set them aside.

    • 2

Place a single rim beside the PVC pipe, then put a mark to distinguish four separate sections, each measuring the depth of a single rim. Use the saw to cut these sections of PVC.

    • 3

Wrap each rim with a short section of duct tape, then press the rims into their respective PVC drift tires. Apply a small amount of glue around the seam between the rim and the PVC pipe to ensure a proper connection.

    • 4

Reattach all four wheels onto the chassis, then secure them with a bolt.
