Things You'll Need
Instructions
Loosen the two screws that secure the dust cover of the transmission to access the gears inside. Locate and loosen the two bolts that fasten the motor to the motor housing, then pull the motor out of the housing.
Disconnect the wires from the electronic speed control (ESC) by either pulling the connectors apart, or heating up the solder joint with a hot soldering iron. Use an allen wrench to loosen the pinion gear from the motor's shaft, then slide the gear off the old motor. Exercise caution, if using the soldering iron.
Slide the brushless motor into the motor housing, then use the two mounting screws to secure it in position. However, do not fully tighten the screws just yet. Connect the positive (red) and negative (black) wires to their respective terminals on the ESC by either snapping the connectors together, or applying a small amount of hot solder to the joint.
Slide the pinion gear onto the motor shaft, then tighten the nub screw with the allen wrench. Orient the motor in the housing to mesh the pinion gear with the adjacent spur gear, in the transmission, before fully tightening the mounting gears.
Close the transmission dust cover, then secure it with the two screws.
