PVC pipe is a great alternative to wood and steel. It is light-weight and inexpensive. PVC will not warp or rust when exposed to the elements. Pipes can either be cut with a hacksaw or power saw and don't require any special tools or skills to join together. Since the pipes are connected using pop-together fittings and not nails or screws, many PVC projects can be fun for the whole family. Pop-together joints can be made permanent with PVC glue or screws.
