How to Tuck & Roll a Cigar

Rolling your own cigars can be much less expensive than buying prerolled cigars. The tuck-and-roll method is one way to roll a cigar. The way the cigar is rolled affects the way it smokes. If it is rolled too tight, it will burn too slow or not at all. If it is rolled too loose, it will burn too quickly. Practice is the key to rolling a cigar the right way.

Instructions

    • 1

Moisten the leaf by placing it into a plastic baggy with water. Let the leaf stay in the baggy for an hour and remove it. This makes the leaf more pliable and easier to work with.

    • 2

Lay the filler leaf flat on the table.

    • 3

Place the tobacco in the center of the leaf. Make the pile of tobacco narrow and the length of the filler leaf.

    • 4

Fold the edge of the leaf that is closest to you over the tobacco and tuck the edge in between the tobacco and the leaf.

    • 5

Roll the filler leaf over the tobacco, like rolling up a poster, until you reach the opposite edge of the filler leaf.

    • 6

Place the cigar in a mold to produce the desired size and shape. Take it out of the mold and place it on the binding leaf.

    • 7

Use egg whites like glue to help the binding leaf stick to the molded cigar. Spread the egg white over the surface of the binding leaf.

    • 8

Place the molded cigar inside the binding leaf to finish rolling. Roll the binding leaf away from your body and over the mold until the molded cigar is completely rolled in the binding leaf. Trim the ends and enjoy.
