How to Use a Negative Rubber Stamp

Rubber stamps have a wide variety of applications. They save time with accounting and administrative work by stamping dates, instructions or messages that workers would otherwise have to write themselves. The growing popularity of card making and scrapbooking have given stamps a far more creative function. Now rubber stamps can be used to decorate your homemade card or scrapbook. Stamps of all kinds are available at craft or hobby shops and can be custom ordered from office supply stores.

Instructions

    • 1

Place your stamp on a flat working surface or (if it has a handle) hold it firmly in your non-dominant hand.

    • 2

Bring the ink pad to the stamp and gently dab it on the bottom of the stamp until the stamp is evenly covered with ink. Pressing the stamp into the ink pad it fine if you are not concerned with appearances, but it may ink unwanted areas of the stamp border.

    • 3

Ensure that the stamp is correctly orientated. Press it gently onto your card or paper. Do not rock the stamp back and forth as this will lead to unwanted border marks.

    • 4

Lift the stamp off carefully to avoid smearing the image. Do not touch the paper until you are sure that the ink has dried.
