Instructions

    • 1

Include a beach anchor as part of your boat supplies. A beach anchor is specifically made for sand. it is designed to twist securely into the sand to keep the boat in place.

    • 2

Attach the anchor rope to the bow using a bowline knot. Make two loops with the rope and pull the loose end of the second loop through the first loop. Wrap the end of the second loop around the length of rope. Pull the second loop back through the first loop and tighten.

    • 3

Attach the other end of the rope to the beach anchor with an anchor knot. Wrap the rope around the anchor handle and then thread the rope through the small loop around the anchor handle. Pull the ends to tighten the rope.

    • 4

Drive the boat slowly to the shore. Do not let the bottom of the boat hit the sand. Stop the boat when there is just enough water to allow the back of the boat and the propellers to float. Pull your motor up over the side of the boat to prevent sand damage to the engine.

    • 5

Extend the anchor rope as far as it will go. Choose a place for the anchor that is as close to the shoreline as possible. Push the anchor as deeply into the sand as it will go.
