How to Adjust a Propane BBQ's Flame

Barbecuing is practically a national sport in America. Some barbecuers take great pride in their repertoire, while others merely dabble in the barbecuing arts, whenever they want a hamburger or hotdog. And then there are some who have not been introduced to the manly sport of grilling and need a little help getting started. Most grills these days are propane-powered and have adjustable flames so that you can cook your food to perfection without having to worry if the coals are too hot or not hot enough.

Instructions

    • 1

Push in the knobs on the front of the barbecue and turn them counter-clockwise to the "High" setting.

    • 2

Light your barbecue. Many barbecues have automatic starter buttons on the front, while others need to be lit with a match. Never attempt to light your barbecue with a hand-held fire starter; either push the "light" button on your barbecue or light a match and drop it in between the grills.

    • 3

Twist the knobs on the front of the barbecue counterclockwise, until the flames are as high or low as needed. The flames can be extinguished by turning the knobs all the way to the "Off" position.
