How to Make a Balloon Cross

Make cross-shaped balloons as decorations for a church party. Follow a basic balloon art technique and twist a single tube balloon to make sure it retains its shape. Use balloons with the colors you want or balloons with appropriate patterns on them for party decorations or to entertain children and hand out as party souvenirs. The cross balloons will hold their shape for three days or up to one week.

Instructions

    • 1

Inflate a long tube balloon. Count to three as you let some air out of the balloon and tie the end. The balloon needs to be a little deflated so you can make the twists without breaking it.

    • 2

Measure about 10 inches from the end and make one twist to section it off. Measure 2 inches down from the first twist and twist again to make a 2-inch bubble. Twist the two twists together clockwise on either side of the bubble to make a "pinch twist" that locks the twists in place.

    • 3

Measure another 10 inches down the balloon and twist off another 2-inch bubble. Twist the two twists together counterclockwise, so that the balloon is in a zigzag shape.

    • 4

Fold the zigzag balloon so that the two 10-inch sections are below the longer section. Grab the middle of all three sections together and twist them together.

    • 5

Arrange the balloon into a 5-inch-long upper section of the cross, with two double sections as the arms of the cross and the longest end pointing downward.
