Purchase a Pick-6 Lotto slip at any recognized lottery retailer. The paper tickets are sold at gas stations, liquor stores and many other retail businesses.
Choose your numbers. You can select your own or allow them to be randomly chosen for you through the computer system that prints your tickets. You choose six numbers between one and 49.
Turn in to the cashier your selections, or request for random numbers, and pay for each set of six numbers you chose. As of 2011, the cost is $1 for each set of six numbers.
Watch the drawing on television or look up the numbers online at playnjlottery.com. You can also subscribe to an email service that will provide you with the winning numbers.
Check your numbers carefully. You can win by matching as few as three numbers, which pays $3 as of June 2011. Matching five numbers wins an average of $2,700, with the exact amount determined by the number of participants. The odds of winning the jackpot are more than 13,000,000-1.
Claim your winnings by signing your ticket and taking it to the retailer for verification. You can claim up to $599.50 in cash at the retail outlet. To claim larger prizes, you must complete a form and send it to lottery headquarters.It takes up to three weeks to receive your winnings. If you win the top prize, you must take the ticket to the lottery headquarters in person and present identification.
