How to Makeup a Dog Face on a Child

Face painting is always a popular activity for children's parties and other events. Many children enjoy looking like their favorite animals, so chances are you will paint more than a few dogs. Applying a dog face to a child is fairly simple, and there is a lot of room for personal creativity. When doing this project, only use face paints that are designed to be used on the skin. Acrylic paints and other mediums are not skin-safe, especially when working on children.

Instructions

    • 1

Apply a circle of white face paint around your child's mouth, from nose to chin, and a stripe up his nose, spreading into a Y at the hairline. Use a makeup brush, makeup sponge or sea sponge for this application.

    • 2

Paint the remaining areas of the skin with light brown face paint.

    • 3

Apply dark brown face paint around the border of your child's face with a large paint brush. Use as light of a touch as possible so that you only paint on delicate streaks, which will simulate fur.

    • 4

Paint the tip of your child's nose black to simulate a dog's nose. Extend a line of black from the underside of the nose to the upper lip.

    • 5

Paint the upper lip black, arching the ends down onto the chin like an upside-down U.

    • 6

Add a few black dots next to the nose to simulate whiskers.

    • 7

Paint a red tongue, outlined in black, on the lower lip and chin.
