Things You'll Need
Instructions
Stand your box vertically if it is rectangular. Remove the flaps from the top of the box with an utility knife. Tape up the bottom of the box if it is open with masking tape. With your ruler, draw a 2-inch border around the perimeter of each side of the box. Leave the bottom alone.
Cut along the lines of the borders you drew to leave the center of each box side open. You should be left with a box with four open rectangles, one in the center of each side.
Cut the first 20-by-24-inch sheet of poster board into 2-inch strips. Glue the strips to the interior borders of the box with a glue stick so that it is completely white inside. The floor of the box does not need any white strips. Take the second piece of white poster board and trim it to the same width as the back side of the box. The length needs to be longer than the height of the box.
Slide the trimmed poster board into the box lengthwise from the top. It needs to curve into the box so the bottom edge of the poster board meets the front of the box's floor. The poster board should have a slight curve covering the floor of the box, up to the top of the back of the box. Trim the top of the poster board so that it does not stick out of the box.
Measure the top and the two sides of the box. Use these measurements to cut your white muslin fabric to cover the open areas on the top and the two sides of the box. The front remains open. Secure the fabric with masking tape.
Shine your lamp through the fabric covering the top of the box, approximately 3 inches above the top center of the box. Place objects inside the box and shoot with your camera from the front.
