Large Box
Collect a large square or rectangular box from the back of your local grocery store, electronics store or large appliance store. If they crush the boxes after their receive deliveries, ask the manager or one of the employees to save you a box.
Buy enough white see-through, sheer or thin fabric to cover the box. Fabrics are sold in yards. Choose a white muslin, nylon or fleece.
Cut squares in the sides of the box. Measure at least two inches from the edges of the box. Mark it with a marker or pencil. Then connect the dots to draw a square. Cut the squares out on all for sides. Cut the flaps off the top of the box. Set them aside for recycling.
Glue sheets of construction paper to the edges of one side of the box. Hang the construction paper vertically (short-side up). Don̵7;t flatten the Paper at the back of the box. Allow it to loosely hang and connect to the opposite lower corner of the box.
Tape additional sheets of construction paper to the ends in order for it to reach the opposite corner of the box. Glue down the end of the construction paper to the inside edges of the lower corner of the box.
Line the outside of the box with the fabric. Glue the white fabric outer corners and the rim of the box. Completely blanket the box with fabric leaving open the one hole facing the background. Place the glue in the corners so that there aren̵7;t glue spots all over the box that may show up in your pictures.
Hang your light over the top of the box. Position your camera to point into the opening of your photography box. Set it up on a tripod and invert it so that it is shining directly at the tripod.
Lightbox Tent
Build a light tent if you can̵7;t find boxes big enough to create the size light box that you want. Gather plastic pipes or wood beams. PVC pipes and fittings as well as wood for woodworking projects are available at hardware stores or woodcraft supply shops.
Arrange your materials in a in a rectangle. Connect the PVC pipe with elbow fittings. They should connect like puzzle pieces. Set them up on top of a table. Assemble four legs and connect the pieces at the top.
Saw your wood legs down to size if you are using wood. Nail in four pieces of wood into a complete rectangle. Then, connect a 2 foot long piece of wood to each corner.
Tap a large sheet of poster board to the back panel of your rectangular structure. Cover the back with poster board as a backdrop and curve the poster board underneath the structure.
Drape the structure in a sheer white fabric. Use a white sheet that you can see through or go to the fabric store for four yards of transparent fabric.
Position lights above the structure and to the sides of the structure. Point the lights directly at the sheet.
