Turning a Purse Into a Camera Bag

There are a number of different accessories that you can buy for your digital camera. One is a camera bag. Rather than spending a lot of money on an expensive camera bag, you can convert an old purse to do the same job. When done you will have saved yourself some money and created a camera bag that will protect your camera and not draw attention to it the same way an expensive camera bag may.

Instructions

    • 1

Select an old purse you no longer need that is slightly larger than the camera and or lenses you want to carry in it. Inspect the camera bag, looking for any signs of rips, tears or other wear that may give way when the camera is inside. Inspect the strap of the purse to make sure it will also carry the weight and is not ripped or tearing in any place.

    • 2

Remove any loose dividers from the inside the purse. Empty the purse of any contents and clean it out to remove any lint, dust or other small debris that could get into your camera̵7;s body.

    • 3

Measure the inside of the purse you want to convert to a camera bag. Cut a piece of foam to match the dimensions for the bottom and sides of the purse. Secure the bottom foam section using two sided tape to hold the foam in place. Attach a strip of hook-and-loop fastener in the middle on the fronts side of the pieces of foam that will be the side walls by removing the rear protective strip on the hook-and-loop fastener that reveal the adhesive. Apply two-sided tape to the back of the foam and secure the foam into the purse by pressing and holding the foam in place.

Cut smaller sections of foam that will be installed as dividers into the purse. These strips need to be as wide as the width of the purse and just shorter than the depth of the purse. Attach a strip of hook-and-loop fastener to the side edges of the foam by removing the protective strip off of the back and pressing the strip onto side edges of the foam. Place the foam inside the purse and align the hook-and-loop fastener on the dividers with the hook-and-loop fastener on the side foam pieces to secure the dividers in place.
