Things You'll Need
Instructions
Select the image or images you want to use for in your serving tray. If you want to use a singular image on tray then try to find a picture that is slight smaller than the tray's surface. You can also use color photocopies of the pictures if you do not want to use the actual pictures.
Lay old newspapers on top of table or desk. Place a rectangular piece of plastic or thin wood on top of the paper. Apply a thin layer of decoupage glue or contact cement to the plastic or wood and allow to partially dry.
Place the picture or pictures onto the glued plastic or wood surface until the area is covered with pictures. If you're using multiple pictures, leave a small amount of space between each picture and also between the edge of the picture and the edge of the surface.
Apply three to four coats of clear varnish with a paint brush over the photo. Allow the varnish to dry thoroughly between each coat. When done you will have a serving tray that has pictures of you or your family secured to it, and a clear coating to protect the surface.
