How to Keep a Picture from Sticking to Glass in the Frame

Frames are usually effective at protecting their contents, but after time moisture can seep inside the frame, causing a picture to stick to the glass. You can prevent this from happening and further protect your important memories by using a mat board inside the frame.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure your picture frame and write down the dimensions. Use a ruler to create markings and lines on a piece of mat board that are at least 1 inch bigger on each side than the frame. Choose a mat board color that matches your decor.

    • 2

Cut off the excess board. Use the ruler again to hold down on the mat board to make precise cuts.

    • 3

Measure your photograph; then use a pencil to draw a square or rectangle in the center of the mat board of the same size.

    • 4

Cut out the center of the mat board with the X-Acto knife. Place the photograph in the frame and then place the mat board over it ensuring that the photograph is visible. Place the top portion of the frame back on.
