Things You'll Need
Instructions
Paint the back wall of your home studio with a special paint that creates a chalk board surface when it dries. This wall treatment allows you to create different backdrops for each session and retains a playful element in your pictures. You can write the child̵7;s name on the blackboard or draw other words or images that will add to the picture. When the blackboard is not going to be used in a shoot, you can simply hang a backdrop to cover it. Paint the other walls with a flat white paint.
Add color to your portrait sessions by using backdrops that are primary and pastel colors. Use a colored backdrop that will compliment what the child is wearing when they arrive for the portrait session.
Have clean, new toys and stuffed animals to use as props in your pictures. Before you begin taking pictures, allow the baby to play with the stuffed animals and see which one they like the most. Use this stuffed toy in the pictures as a way to keep the baby calm during the shoot.
Use support pillows to position the baby into the pose you want. The safety of the baby needs to be considered at all times. Depending on the age of the child, they may not be able to support themselves in a sitting position. Support pillows will aid with this.
