Things You'll Need
Instructions
Select a location either outdoors or inside that will be large enough for you to walk through and create the light graffiti.
Attach your camera to a tripod and use the widest angle lens you have. The wider the lens, the more space you will have to work in. Look through the lens and mark on the ground or floor the left and right edge that appears in your viewfinder with reflective tape. This will indicate to you the boundary you have to work in for the image to appear in your camera.
Turn the lights out or wait for it to become completely dark. Turn your camera on, set the exposure mode to ̶0;Aperture Priority̶1; and under-expose your picture by two stops. Set the aperture to f5.6. The light meters in cameras will tell the camera to expose for normal daylight. To get the picture you want, you need a dark background. Underexposing the picture by two stops will ensure a dark background.
Press the shutter release, move into the area you marked off on the ground. Turn your flashlight on and begin to write or draw the saying or image you want to appear using the light beam. Since the light is so much brighter than the background it will appear in the picture, but you will not be in the picture as you will be moving from side to side.
Review the picture on your camera̵7;s LCD screen and make any adjustments. Try using different color light beams for different looks and effects.
