How to Select Your Best Photographs in Photography

In addition to being able to photograph any scene effectively and process photos in an effective and timely way, professional photographers need to be able to select their best work. Selecting the best pictures from a shoot or assignment can be a difficult task for some photographers. It can be hard to eliminate pictures that may not be the best images from the day's work.

Instructions

    • 1

Upload your images from your digital camera to your computer. Open the program you use to organize your images or the folder where you saved the pictures.

    • 2

View the pictures one by one at full size. Delete pictures in which the subject is out of focus, or, if the subject is a person, his eyes are closed or he is not looking at the camera.

    • 3

View the remaining pictures a second time. Examine the background of the pictures, looking for distracting elements such as people, pets or animals that wandered into your shot. Look also for photos with the best color and lighting.

    • 4

View the pictures one more time. View similar pictures side by side so you can compare them and decide which is better. Keep only the best pictures from your shoot; you will save space on your hard drive by not retaining substandard pictures.
