Things You'll Need
Instructions
Contact local retailers, art stores and gift shops and inquire if they sell photography on a consignment basis.
Meet with the retailer and review your photography portfolio. Select the images you and the retailer agree to display in the store. The retailer will likely have an idea of which of your pictures are best suited for his store and clientele.
Negotiate the price for the photography, the percentage the retailer will receive when the work sells and the length of time you will leave the prints on display. Selling on consignment will often result in potentially a better price than if you sold the picture directly to the retailer. The trade-off for doing this is that you don't get paid until the image sells.
Deliver the photographs to the retailer. Ask if you can leave a brochure or smaller portfolio of your other work that potential buyers can review.
