How to Make a Picture Topped Coffee Table

Converting your coffee table top into a display for your favorite pictures is not only an effective way to display your pictures but will add new life to an older table. You can choose a traditional method of placing pictures of the same size on top of the table or use a variety of sizes and orientations for a more eclectic display. Either approach is acceptable and ultimately will be up to your design objectives.

Things You'll Need

Pictures
Measuring tape
Ruler
Cleaning chemicals
Piece of glass that matches the dimensions of table top

Instructions

  Measure the top of the coffee table from side to side and from top to bottom. Purchase a piece of glass that matches these dimensions. You can also use clear acrylic or plastic if you choose. The weight of glass is preferred, as it will not move as easily.

  Clean the top of the coffee table thoroughly. The top should be free of any dirt, residue and cleaning chemicals when you go to place the pictures on the table. If the table is dirty or has chemicals on it, they could affect the pictures when they are placed on the table.

  Arrange the pictures you want to use. Start in the top left of the table and begin positioning the pictures so they are equally spaced from each other. Use a thin guide such as a ruler to keep the distance between the pictures equal. Continue to lay out the pictures until the entire coffee table top is covered with photos.

  With the help of second person, slowly lower the glass onto the top of the coffee table. Once in place, the weight of the glass will prevent it from moving and keep the images flat.
