Things You'll Need
Instructions
Prepare yourself for a headshot. Wear a black, professional-looking shirt. Apply light makeup to your face, and groom your hair for a neat appearance.
Choose a solid printed background for your photoshoot. Neutral colors, like black, are best to maintain professionalism. A bedsheet will work as a cheap background.
Ask a friend to help you with the photos or use a tripod to do it yourself. Put your camera on the tripod and turn it on to see how the background will look in the photo. Using your camera's settings, you can easily choose a timer for the photo to be delayed. This will allow you to push the button on the camera and get into position before the picture is taken.
Take many photos of yourself so you have a large variety to choose from. Experiment with angles to find how you photograph best. To have your eyes be the focal point, you should position yourself below the camera, and the camera should be angled down at your face.
Use your bathroom mirror as an alternative to the tripod. Clean your mirror thoroughly. Angle your body to the mirror. Hold the camera out and angle it at the mirror to take a photo of yourself.
Upload your photos to your computer. Using any photo-editing software, convert your photos to black-and-white. Crop your photos if necessary. Save your best images.
Print your images on 8x10-inch photo-quality paper. You can upload your photographs to an online printing company for professional-looking photos, and apply a border, your name and other filters using online printing services.
