How to Use Photo Tags

The more pictures you take and download to your computer, the more difficult it may become to find a specific picture at some point in the future. Unlike the days of having your film processed and printed and then putting those pictures into a photo album, many individuals now upload their pictures to their computer, where they stay. Using "photo tags" will help you organize your pictures, which will make it easier to locate the picture when you want to in the future.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn your home computer on and connect your camera to your computer. Download the pictures from your camera to your computer.

    • 2

Click the folder containing the pictures you just downloaded in the photo viewing program you use on your computer. You can use "Windows Picture Viewer," which is included on most computers, or you can use a photo browsing program.

    • 3

Position your cursor over the first picture in the folder. Press and hold the "Ctrl" and "A" keys on your computer keyboard and click the first picture in the folder to select all of the pictures.

    • 4

Type the words you want to use in the "Add tags" field in the bottom of the window. Choose tags that describe where the picture was taken, who is in the picture, what the picture is about and what is happening in the picture. Click "Save" and these tags will be added to the all of the pictures in the folder.

    • 5

Type one of the tags in the "Search" field and click "Enter" and the computer will return all of the images containing that tag.
