How to Get Retakes When Not Happy with Pictures

When people want to preserve a special moment, such as a graduation or senior prom, they typically have photographs taken at a professional studio. While most photo shoots go off without a hitch, problems can happen. Whether the photographer made an error, the studio lost the image files or you dislike the way you were posed, a re-shoot can be scheduled to correct the problem.

Instructions

    • 1

Phone the photographer or professional studio where you had your first set of portraits taken. In most cases, you will be provided with a contact card during your first visit.

    • 2

Explain that you are not satisfied with the photographic prints you have received and ask about the studio's retake policy. Although most studios and freelance photographers will offer a re-shoot free of charge, inquire to be sure.

    • 3

Schedule your re-shoot date and time. Plan your appointment carefully, as you do not want to be rushed for time.

    • 4

Arrive at the studio on the scheduled day at the set time. If desired, choose a different outfit or hairstyle prior to leaving for the studio.

    • 5

Look over the digital proofs with your photographer to ensure that you are satisfied with the retakes.
