How to Make a Photostory Without Photo Story 3

Photo Story 3 is a digital photo slide show program that Microsoft offered with Window's XP. Using this program, you could create custom designed digital slide shows that you could display on your computer's monitor or projected through a digital projector onto a screen. If you do not have Photo Story 3, you can use another program like Windows Live Photo Gallery to create a digital slide show using different transitions for your completed show.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your home computer and open the photo editing program you normally use to edit your pictures. Click "File" and select "Open" toggle to the folder containing the images you want to use in your photo story. Highlight the images and open them in the editor.

    • 2

Adjust the color, exposure and brightness of the pictures. Change the DPI (dots per inch) setting of the pictures from its current value to "72." Computer screens and digital projectors do not require the same dpi as a printed image requires. Reducing the dpi will allow the program to run more efficiently and will also reduce the overall size of the slide show's file. Save the images to a separate folder on your computer.

    • 3

Open Windows Live Photo Gallery. Select the folder you saved the edited images to from the folder list in the left margin. Click "Import" in the top left corner of the navigation bar to add the photos in this folder into the program.

    • 4

Click the "Caption" tab in the navigation bar and add a different caption to each picture if you wish.

    • 5

Click the "Slide show" tab in the navigation bar and select the theme for the slide show you want to create. There are several choices for the slide show that will create a different look and photo transition depending on your selection. Click on the selection for your slide show and a new window will open up where the slide show will begin to play.

Click "Share" in the navigation bar and send the completed slide show to Facebook, YouTube or Flickr.
