Things You'll Need
Instructions
Position yourself where you feel gives you the best possible composition options. Consider where the light is coming from, the background behind your subject and other elements that may compete for the viewer's eye.
Turn your camera on, prefocus and compose the scene by holding the camera up to your eye and press the shutter release halfway down to activate the focusing and exposure modes. Once the camera is focused and the exposure is set, then you need to be patient and wait for the right time to take the picture.
Observe the scene and try to anticipate when the correct moment will happen. This is the most challenging component of taking photos with emotion. People respond differently to different situations. Hold the camera close to your eye so you ready to take the picture as soon as emotion appears on your subject's face.
