Open the photo editing program you typically use to adjust your pictures. The contrast adjustment is a fairly basic control that is common in practically all photo editing programs. If your program does not have a contrast adjustment, you can download free programs like GIMP and Paint.net that do have this adjustment option.
Click "File" in the navigation bar and use your computer's cursor to find the picture you want to edit. Highlight the picture with your cursor and click "OK" to open the picture.
Click "Edit" or "Adjustment" or "Image" in the navigation bar of your editing program and select "Contrast" from the drop-down menu. Depending on the program, the contrast adjustment could be held in menus with these names.
Click and hold the adjustment tab on the contrast slider and move it to reduce the amount of contrast in your picture. The slider may have a "+" symbol at one end or have the words "More" or "Increase." Move the slider to reduce the contrast.
Click "File" and select "Save as." Give your edited image a new name and save it to your computer's hard drive.
