How to Fix Blurry Photos With Easy Software

While blurred images can convey movement or an artistic effect, most photographers prefer crisp, sharply rendered results. Blur can be caused by a number of errors, including camera shake or a shutter speed that is too slow to effectively capture a subject's motion. Better camera handling technique, as well as post-processing with your preferred image-editing software, can improve the sharpness of your images. Sharpening is a basic command in all editing programs, so you'll be able to achieve great results quickly and simply.

Instructions

    • 1

Run your preferred image editing software. Open your blurry photo.

    • 2

Select the "Filter" tab from the software's top toolbar. Highlight "Sharpen" from the drop-down menu that appears.

    • 3

Review the available sharpening filters. To sharpen the entire image, select "Sharpen" or "Sharpen More" for greater effect. To correct blurred edges, select "Sharpen Edges." For greater control over the sharpening filter, select "Smart Sharpen." This lets you control the type of blur you'll correct (Gaussian, Lens or Motion blur) and the intensity of the effect.

    • 4

View the results once the filter is applied. If you've made adjustments with the "Smart Sharpen" filter, it may take several seconds for the effect to show.

    • 5

Save the image once you are finished making adjustments. To preserve the original file, rename the corrected image.
