Instructions
Altering Pixels
Open Adobe Photoshop CS5 or Elements. In the navigation bar, click "File" and select "Open" from the drop-down menu. Select the folder containing the image you want to edit; highlight the file and click "OK" in the bottom right of the window to open the picture.
Select the "Spot Healing Brush Tool" from the margin on the left side of the window. The tool appears as a small bandage-strip icon. In the toolbar, set the size of the tool to "2" pixels --- you want the tool to be large enough to surround the dead pixel.
Position the tool over the dead or hot pixel and click the mouse button. This will remove the dead or hot pixel and replace the area with data from the surrounding pixels to feature a similar appearance. Click "File" and select "Save As" to give your edited picture a name and save the image to your computer hard drive.
Removing Pixels
Click "File" and select "Open" from the navigation bar in Adobe Photoshop CS5 or Elements. Navigate to the folder containing the picture you want to tweak. Highlight the picture and click "OK."
Select the "Eraser" tool from the left margin of the window. The icon for this tool looks like a rubber pencil eraser. Once selected, adjust the size and opacity in the navigation bar. Opacity refers to the intensity. When set at 100 percent, the eraser tool will remove all the information from the area you click.
Position your cursor over the affected area, click and hold the mouse key and move your cursor. The eraser will now remove all of the data from the area in the picture as you move the cursor. Once all the data has been removed, you can fill the area using the "Clone Stamp" tool.
Click "File," select "Save As" and save your edited picture.
