Lacquering a picture to a piece of wood or other hard backing create a work of art. The picture is affixed to the wood and protected with the multiple coats of lacquer. Instructions

    • 1

Select a frame or piece of wood that will work as the backing for your picture. Clean the frame with damp cloth and allow the frame to dry thoroughly.

    • 2

Choose a picture to lacquer onto the frame. Cut the subject out of the picture or lacquer the entire picture onto the frame. Apply a small amount of adhesive spray to the back of the picture to hold it in place as you apply the layers of lacquer.

    • 3

Lay the picture onto the frame and wait a few minutes for the adhesive to dry. Use a foam or hair paintbrush and apply thin layers of lacquer across the entire picture and frame. The entire surface should look the same.

    • 4

Apply four to five additional coats until you achieve the desired result. Once all of the lacquer coats have been applied, apply two or three coats of varnish.
