Turn on your home computer and open up Adobe Photoshop or GIMP photo editing. Photoshop is advanced photo editing software that you can purchase. GIMP is a free program that is modelled on Photoshop. While the names may be slightly different on tools between the two programs, the steps are essentially the same.
Connect to the Internet and search for pictures of pets and pictures of hats. If you already pictures you want to use you can skip this step, otherwise open a search engine and in the search bar type in the breed of animal you want to use. Select the free pictures galleries on microstock sites for your source of pictures. Complete the same process for the pictures of the hats. If the pictures of hats have a busy background, you can remove the background in the editing program using the "Eraser" tool and saving the edited image as a new file.
Click "File" in the navigation bar of the editing program you are using and select "Open." Use your cursor to navigate to the folder highlight the file you want to edit and click "Ok" to open the image.
Click "Layer" in the navigation bar, select "New Layer" click the drop menu in "Mode" and select "Overlay" and click "Ok" to create the layer. Click "File" in the navigation bar and navigate to the folder containing the pictures of the hats you want to use. Highlight the file and click "Ok." The hat picture will now appear on top of the picture of the pet.
Click and hold on any corner of the new image and move the cursor towards the middle of the picture to reduce the size of hat so it matches the same proportions of the pet picture. Click and hold on the hat picture and position the picture so the hat is placed in the correct place on the pet. Once you have placed the image of hat in the right place. Click the green check mark in the bottom right to lock the hat into the position.
Click "Layer" in the navigation bar and select "Flatten Image." Click "File" and select "Save as" name your new picture and save it to your hard drive.
