How-to Tutorial for Photo-Realistic Graphite Drawings

Digital technology has had a significant impact on the world of photography. It changed the way pictures are taken and stored, and it also changed the way pictures are edited and how the images can be used. Using an advanced software program such as Photoshop, GIMP photo editor or the program that came with your digital camera, you can create realistic graphite drawings from your photos. The wording might differ slightly among the programs, but the features and steps are the same.

Click "Enhance" in the navigation bar of the program and select "Convert to Black and White" from the drop down menu. "Charcoal Area" and "Chalk Area" control the amount of the image that will appear with features. "Stroke Pressure" controls the thickness of the lines as they appear in the image. By adjusting these sliders, you can create the picture exactly as you want it. The more sophisticated the program, the more sliders it offers to add effects.
