Meet with the client to determine his objectives for the photo shoot. You need to have a clear idea of the number of images or the length of footage he will require prior to preparing your picture storyboard.
Prepare an illustration or search for a photo from your archive that illustrates the type of shot for each portion of the shoot. For each shot change be sure to include brief, written instructions for camera movement, actions in the shot, lighting, make-up and wardrobe changes, if required.
Arrange the illustrations or photos on a large board-room sized table and review to ensure the sequence of shots is appropriate for the models, and the other departments involved in the shoot. If you only have a model for a small period of time, you will need to arrange the shots for that model to be done one after another. Once all the contingencies for the photo shoot have been accounted for, post the picture storyboard in the studio so everyone will be able to refer to it.
