Conversion of RAW Canon G10 Data

Included with the purchase of your Canon G10 is a "Utilities disc" that has a number of programs. One of the programs on the disc is Canon's "Zoom Browser/RAW Conversion." This program assists you in downloading your pictures from your G10. The RAW Conversion component of the program walks you through the different white balance, editing and the steps needed to convert your pictures from RAW to JPEG's or TIFF files when you save them to your computer.

Instructions

  Turn on your computer and insert the Utilities disc into the drive. Follow the prompts to install the programs on your computer. Once they're installed, open the Zoom Browser program.

  Connect your Canon G10 to your computer using a USB cable or insert the memory card into a card reader. Follow the prompts to download the images to your computer.

  Click the "RAW Conversion" tab in the navigation bar of the program. Select the image you want to convert from the vertical strip of thumbnails on the left side of the screen. After installing Canon Zoom Browser to your computer, you can customize the way the program appears on your screen to show thumbnails of your pictures or the folder location of your pictures in the left margin.

  Adjust the sliders in the right-hand margin tool bar to adjust exposure, white balance and color adjustments. Click "File" in the navigation bar and select "Save as" and change the file type in the new window to either JPEG or TIFF, to convert your RAW images into either of these formats.
