Incense
Light incense sticks to create a constant supply of smoke. Strike a match and light the end of the incense on fire. Let it burn for a moment and blow it out. An ember should remain smoldering on the end of the stick giving off smoke. Depending on the size of the stick the incense can supply a steady stream of smoke for several minuets to a couple of hours.
Fireworks
Set off fireworks to create smoke and light. Several types of fireworks are either designed to give off large amounts of smoke, like smoke bombs, or give off a large amount of smoke as a byproduct of their use, like sparklers and Roman candles.
Tobacco Products
Smoke a cigar or pipe to produce thick smoke. Cigars and pipes can produce large amounts of smoke. Overly moist tobacco produces more smoke than very dry tobacco. Water pipes, also called hookahs, also can produce large amounts of smoke. However, smoking tobacco, as well as breathing in the smoke second hand, is known to cause health problems.
Model Railroad Smoke Unit
Use a small smoke generator to create less harmful vapor smoke. Smoke generators from model railroad engines and steam ships can be purchased separately from the larger, more expensive model kits. These smoke units are generally small electronic devices that run on battery power and use oil or special liquids to generate smoke. While all these units need to be occasionally refilled with smoke producing liquid, some units can be programed to produce different amounts of smoke. Some units, usually those marketed to younger users, only produce safe, breathable water vapor.
