How Can I Set Up a Table Display for Just a Few Matted Pictures at a Craft Fair?

When you are an aspiring photographer and an opportunity turns up to display your work for sale, take advantage of the event even if you think you don't have quite enough pieces to show yet. With just a few matted pictures, you have the chance to make sales, get your work in front of prospective customers and develop new contacts for your fledgling photography business. Make a big impact at a craft fair, even if you only have a handful of pieces to show. Use inexpensive materials to design an eye-catching display that attracts visitors to matted photos.

Instructions

    • 1

Spray paint a trifold cardboard project display board lightly with gold, silver, black or neutral-colored spray paint. Let the paint dry for at least two days before the craft show.

    • 2

Place a brick, stones or other heavy material in three or four shoeboxes. Fill the box with crumpled newspaper to keep the heavy items from moving around. Wrap packing tape around the box to keep the lid secure.

    • 3

Wrap the shoeboxes with unpatterned gift wrapping paper with neutral colors if you will be displaying color photography. If your photos are black and white, wrap the boxes in bright primary or metallic colored gift wrap.

    • 4

Spread a plain tablecloth, without any pattern on it, across the display table. Set the painted trifold display board at one end of the table, facing toward the show venue's aisle.

    • 5

Attach matted photographs to the top and side edges of the trifold display with binder clips that can be pressed open to rearrange or remove the photo.

    • 6

Set one wrapped shoebox on the table in front of the display board. Place a small easel on top of the shoebox and set a matted photo on it. Arrange the remaining shoeboxes across the rest of the table surface. Set small easels on top of each box to display additional photographs. If you have more photos, display them mounted on easels set on the table surface or laying flat.
