How to Find Photos Posted on the Internet From Your Area

Searching for photos posted to the Internet that have been taken in your area is best done by using keyword searches. There are millions of images loaded on personal websites and the sites of stock agencies, newspapers, magazines and more -- and none of them can be found by Internet search engines unless the pictures have been keyworded. Keywords are used to describe the image, the location, the event, the subject and provide the viewer with a brief overview of the picture. Internet search engines look for images containing words that match your search request.

  Open your preferred Web browser and click inside the search bar. If there is an option for "Advanced search," click that.

  Type in words that identify the area you want to search or live in. You can start very broadly with the city or town you live in, then narrow your search further by using the community or name given to your area. You can also input the name of a specific street or building.

  Click "Match any" and select "Pictures" in the advanced search options. Click "Search" and the program will bring up images that match at least one of the words in your search string. If the program returns too many images or pictures that are not from your area then refine the search by adding more specific keywords.
