How to Put Several Pictures on a Background to Have Blown Up Into a Big Picture

The advent of digital technology and its application in photography has allowed individuals to create pictures that would have been difficult to create using film. If you have a number of digital photos from an event or vacation, you can create a big picture by placing a number of these photos onto one page. To complete this picture, you can use a photo editing program that allows you to place pictures onto pages. A free program you can download to complete this task is GIMP.

Instructions

    • 1

Select the pictures you want to use. If you have a lot of photos from the event, take the time to review them and select the best ones.

    • 2

Open the photo editing software you want to use. Click "File" from the navigation bar and select "New" from the drop-down menu.

    • 3

Click "Width" in the new window and change the value to match the width size of the large picture you are creating; the "Height" value will automatically change to create a picture size. Click "Resolution" and change the value to "300." This is the resolution you need for printing pictures.

    • 4

Click "File" and select "Place" from the drop-down menu. The program will take you to your pictures folder. Select the first picture you want to place onto the page. Click "OK" in the bottom right corner and the program will add the picture to the page.

    • 5

Click and hold on the edge of the photo you just placed onto your background to reposition the picture. Click and hold the adjustment tab on the corner of the picture and move the mouse to make the picture larger or smaller on the page.

    • 6

Repeat the process until all the pictures are on the page and you have repositioned them and adjusted the size so they all fit on the page the way you want.

    • 7

Click "Layer" in the navigation bar, and select "Flatten Image" to finalize the picture. Click "File" select "Save as" name your photo and save it to your hard drive for printing.
