How to Save Developed Pictures to a CD

If you are still taking pictures using film and/or have a large archive of family pictures on print, you can save those pictures to a CD for an added level of storage and protection. To save your developed pictures to a CD, you first must convert the printed picture to a digital file. If you have flatbed scanner at home and a desktop or laptop computer, you can scan your printed pictures to create a digital file.

Instructions

Power on your computer and flatbed scanner. Select "Photo" in the settings tab of the scanner software, then select the document type you will be scanning. If your flatbed scanner offers a quality setting option, select the highest quality setting. Using this setting will create a digital file that will be suitable for printing in the future.

Place your photograph face down on the platen of the flatbed scanner. Close the lid and press the start button. The scanner will now scan the photograph and save the scanned photo to the "My Scans" folder on your computer.

Open the CD burner drive on your home computer and insert a blank CD. Close the burner and wait a moment for your computer to acknowledge the blank CD.

Right-click the folder in your "My Scans" folder containing the pictures you just scanned. Select "Send to" from the drop-down menu. Select the icon that represents the drive containing the blank CD. Click "Ok" located in the bottom right of the window on your computer screen. Your computer will now start copying the folder containing the scanned developed pictures to the blank CD.

Remove the CD containing your developed pictures from your computer. Place the CD into a protective case for storage.
