Things You'll Need
Instructions
Open the portrait to be edited with photo editing software.
Right click the picture thumbnail in the "Layers" section to the right of the screen. Select "Duplicate Layer" from the drop-down box.
At the top of the screen, click "Filter." This will reveal another drop-down box. Click "Convert For Smart Filters." A message box will appear. Click "OK" to continue.
Click the "Filter" box once again. This time, however, when the drop-down box appears, place the mouse over "Blur." A second drop-down box will appear to the right. Click "Gaussian Blur." A box will appear and you will be able to change the radius until the desired blur is found. Click "OK" to apply the Gaussian blur to the portrait.
Add a layer mask by going to the "Layers" box at the top of the screen. There will be an option in the dropdown box that says "Add Layer Mask."
Select the brush tool from the bar to the left of the screen. Select a soft-edged brush that is large enough to cover the area of the eye. Click the button at the top of the screen that looks like an airbrush. To the left of this button, set the opacity to "40%." Brush over the eyes and any other notable features in order to accentuate them in the photo.
Alter the opacity of the whole photograph until a desired level is reached. This can be done by selecting the opacity percentage drop-down box in the "Layers" box to the right of the screen.
