Instructions
Stop using the camera or change the card. While you can no longer see that picture, it still exists on the memory or internal memory chip. If you continue to use the camera or memory card, you run the risk that the physical space the deleted file occupies on the card or memory disc will be replaced with a new image. If that happens, the deleted file is gone.
Turn your home computer on and connect to the Internet. Download a file recovery program such as PC Inspector Smart Recovery, PixFix Free Photo Recovery or CameraSalvage if you are using an Apple computer. Open the program you just downloaded to your computer.
Connect your camera to your computer using a USB cable or the camera's docking station. If you are using a memory card, insert the card into a card reader that is connected to or built into your computer. Wait a moment for your computer to acknowledge the card has been downloaded.
Click "File" and select "Scan/Start" from the drop-down menu. Select the icon that represents the camera or memory card from the new window that opened up in the recovery program. The program will now scan the card looking for the lost pictures.
Select the image you accidentally deleted from the window that opens up after the scan has been completed. Save the image to your picture folder.
Download the rest of the images from your memory card or camera as you would normally do so.
