How to Make a Picture Flyer

Making a picture flyer is less messy using digital photos and word processing programs than when cutting and gluing pictures to paper was the only option. Before digital pictures, if you wanted to make a picture flyer you would have to either sacrifice a photo by gluing it to the page or spend money to get a second print made. Once the original flyer was made, the picture would often become unrecognizable when the flyer was photocopied. Those days are gone! Now you can create unique and interesting flyers with photos and print them out either at home or at a retail print shop.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a word processing or photo editing program that allows you to place pictures on a blank page and add text.

    • 2

Determine the picture or pictures you want to use in the flyer. Click "File" and select "Place" or "Insert" from the drop-down menu. Find the file and photo and follow the program's prompt to insert the photo. The program will now drop the picture onto the blank page.

    • 3

Put the photo in the place you want it to be. Often, you can click on the photo with your mouse and drag it to the spot.

    • 4

Click your mouse on the border of the picture and you will observe a "bounding box" that has small tabs on the corners and sides of the picture. Click and hold these small tabs and move your computer mouse to adjust the size of the picture. (To keep the photo in a square, for example, use the tabs at the corner to increase the photo's size.) When done, release the mouse button and the picture will be sized to your preference. (You may need to reposition the photo due to its new size.)

Click the text tool, and position the cursor on the page where you want to add text to your picture flyer. Type the text you want to add. At times, you must use a "text box" to do this. When you are done, position your computer mouse cursor anywhere on the text and click and hold the mouse button. You can now reposition the highlighted text into the desired position. You can also adjust the size and font of the text by using the selection boxes located at the top of the page. Continue with your flyer layout until it is complete.

Save your file, giving it a name. Your flyer is now ready for electronic or print distribution.
