How to Customize a Photo and Save the Date

Digital photography and the programs used to edit the pictures provide a lot options when it comes to customizing a picture. Individuals can convert color pictures to black and white. Change them into pictures that look like works of art, or color tint them to any shade or color you can think of. After you have completed the editing, you can save the image as a separate file from the original. Save both the original shot date and subsequent editing date in the photo metadata.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the photo editing program you normally use to customize your pictures. Click "File" and select "Get Photo" or "Open" on the file for the picture you want to customize.

    • 2

Click "Curves" "Levels" "Brightness" or "Exposure" in the editing tab of the program to adjust the exposure on the picture. Slide the adjustment tab on the ruler that appears until the photo reaches the desired level of exposure.

    • 3

Click "File" and select "Save As" to save your customized photo. A new window will come up, asking you to give the photo a new name. Include the date as part of the photo name. There is some punctuation that you cannot use in the title. Use a name like, editedphoto01012011 or something similar that encompasses the date. If you get into the practice of doing this with all of your edited pictures, searching for them by date will be easier. The photo program will also save the date you made the changes to the picture on as well.
